Lu Xinyi sighed happily beside Shen Yi at the backseat of the car. A huge burger in her hand and a large cup of soda beside her, she took a huge bite. It tasted divine! She chewed slowly, savoring the juiciness of the burger patty on her mouth. Ah, this was way better on what the gala offered to their guest.

She’d tried their desserts but she found them too sweet for her taste buds. It was like pouring a ton of sugar on their cakes and pastries only to be down by bland and tasteless drinks. With her insistent, Shen Yi asked the driver to make a quick visit to her favorite restaurant to let her order her burger.

She was conscious to eat in front of him at first, but Lu Xinyi thought that it didn’t matter. Her burger was cooked just right. The burger patty wasn’t overcooked and dried. It had a nice sear to trap all the juices inside. The fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions added it helped bring a crisp texture and flavor depth that made her burger scream fresh. To add more depth to the flavor, the sauce complimented the other toppings well without overpowering them.

There was nothing graceful as you eat a slightly greasy burger in front of your husband, but damn it all to hell. Lu Xinyi thought. Shen Yi should wait or tolerate her while she tries to fill her stomach with food. She appreciated his effort though when he laid a hanky on her lap to make sure she wouldn’t ruin her dress. How sweet was that!

No way she wouldn’t enjoy her meal. Granted, her husband was delicious in his own way. His kisses were out of this world that made her toes curled every time he kisses her. Probably comparable to her burger, but right now she will choose the burger over his kisses, cause heck she didn’t have an afternoon snack and dinner earlier.

Lu Xinyi glanced on her husband. She swallowed as she noticed the look in his eyes. She blindly took her soda and took a large gulp to wash down her burger.

“Is there something wrong?” she asked. He didn’t respond but continued to look at her like she was kind of prey waiting to be devoured by him.

She was so satisfied with her meal that she patted her full stomach. Ah, this is life. Delicious food should always be available to lift up her mood. She did feel more happy and content that they confessed each other’s feelings but still those words she hadn’t heard clearly bugged him.

Lu Xinyi knew that she cannot force her husband to say it and probably she need to wait for sometime for him to say it again. She clutched the bag of burgers possessively. She still had plans to eat them later.

Shen Yi chose that moment to smirk at her and shook his head. The silence continued until the driver pulled the car into the driveway for VIP guests of the hotel, turning off the engine and opening the door for the couple.

They stepped outside. Shen Yi helped his wife to steady on her feet and was about to take the bag of burgers from her hand.

“No! This is mine. Back off!” Lu Xinyi protected her burgers from her husband’s hands.

“You ordered three burgers, a large size of fries and two sodas. Are you telling me you don’t have plans to share it with me?” Shen Yi asked feigning being hurt by his wife’s claim.

“It’s your fault not telling me you also want burgers too,” she replied once they stepped inside the elevator.

Shen Yi escorted her back to their suite and opened the door for her. As soon as the door opened, a delicious scent of meat lingered within their suite.

“What is that?” Lu Xinyi asked. She left the bag of burgers at the nearest table to see what was it. Following the scent of that delicious aroma lead her to the dining area where two plates of grilled lamb chops were served on the table.

Shen Yi removed his coat and threw it on the couch. He was truly overjoyed when Lu Xinyi chose a suit without a need to have a bowtie or any neckties.

“I thought you said you’re full. I guess these lamb chops will be mine.”

“What? No! That’s unfair, Shen Yi. You didn’t tell me there was something delicious waiting for us to come home.” Lu Xinyi whined, her husband merely laughed at her.

“Eh? After you refused to share those burgers with me?”

“Oh, my dear husband Shen Yi. My love. Milord. Please forgive this foolish mortal for her impertinence and spare her some lamb chops, please?” Lu Xinyi clasped her hands together and begged to her husband with puppy like eyes.

“Okay but you have to pay for it later.” That devilish grin sent red flags to Lu Xinyi but she was torn between the lamb chops and the payment from it.

Lu Xinyi had an idea what was it and she instantly covered her face in shame. Her mind kept on chanting ‘it’s alright, you can choose the meat.’ over and over.

“I choose the meat!” she conceded.
