When Lu Xinyi came and stepped within the lobby of the building, it was already out of office hours. The lights were already dimmed but some floors were still busy as if trying to meet a hectic deadline soon. She pressed the button in the elevator and waited for it to open.

Yan Cai, a member of the security personnel of Shen Yi’s company came after her after recognizing her as the woman that accompanied their Boss Yi yesterday.

“Miss Lu? What are you doing here?” he asked.

“I’m looking for Shen Yi.” she deadpanned, her face void of any expression. The man could feel the dangerous aura emitting from this petite woman as if threatening anyone not to come close to her. “Is he still here?” her cold tone surprised Yan Cai.

“As far as I know Boss Yi hasn’t left yet? Is there something wrong, Miss Lu?”

No. He shouldn’t have asked the obvious thing right now but Yun Cai was oblivious about the real relationship of their Boss Yi to Lu Xinyi.

“We have an appointment tonight but he didn’t show up.”

The elevator door opened and Lu Xinyi stepped inside with Yun Cai on her trail.

“I’ll bring you to his office then.” Yun Cai offered and punched the button for the floor where Shen Yi’s office was.

Once they arrived at the right floor and stepped outside the elevator, they noticed a small commotion outside Shen Yi’s office. The room was locked from the inside and there were crashing and breaking sounds that could be heard from within.

“What the hell is happening here?!” Yun Cai roared. Why these people didn’t call help when there was something wrong happening inside? It was also clear that someone was crying and whimpering in pain.

Lu Xinyi sauntered with sure steps towards the door and glared at the people gossiping.

“Move.” She commanded and they instantly shut their mouths and made way for her. Only one woman who didn’t budge from her spot and frowned when she saw Lu Xinyi coming in her way.

“Miss Lu. You aren’t needed here.” Xuan Ling snorted. ‘Who did she think she is to order us around?’ she scoffed to herself.

“Didn’t you hear what I said? Are you deaf or just plain stupid?” Lu Xinyi retorted. She wasn’t really in a good mood to deal with some whiny bitches. She already had an idea what was happening inside but she would rather not to jump into conclusions without knowing what happened.

Xuan Ling, Duan Yong’s assistant, couldn’t believe that Lu Xinyi got an audacity to talk back to her. But before she could say another word, Lu Xinyi’s narrowed eyes made her swallowed the lump on her throat. This woman was scary. Her instincts kept on chanting ‘RUN! BITCH! RUN!’ as she stared at Lu Xinyi.

“The last thing I want to do is to hurt you, but it’s still on my list.” Lu Xinyi warned her.

Xuan Ling felt her knees buckled in fear and unconsciously moved away from Lu Xinyi. Yun Cai who was listening to their conversation couldn’t help but observe Lu Xinyi. While it was true that no one had known what’s her real relationship to their Boss Yi, Lu Xinyi got a temper comparable to their boss.

She was vicious and demanding. Something that could be expected from Boss Yi’s woman. At those thoughts, Yun Cai stilled on his place. Was Lu Xinyi really their Boss Yi’s woman? If she was then they got a fierce lady boss. Someone that they couldn’t offend or else all hell will break loose.

“Open the door.” Lu Xinyi said while glaring daggers to the close door that separates her to Shen Yi.

Yun Cai didn’t hesitate but obey her words. He unlocked the door and waited for Lu Xinyi to open it herself. Lu Xinyi didn’t waste another time and ripped the damn thing open. Surprise had them stopping at the doorway, staring dumbfounded at the scene before them.

“What the fuck.?! Yun Cai cursed. Exactly. What the fuck was going on?

The room was a mess. Several broken glasses scattered on the floor. Papers and folders ripped off and unreadable.

On the left side of the room, Duan Yong was pinned on the wall with Shen Yi’s hand gripping her throat as if he intended to strangle her to death. The woman struggled against his tight grasp. She wasn’t looking hot and beautiful, unlike the last time Lu Xinyi saw her.

Duan Yong had been crying obviously. Her eye makeup was ruined and marred half of her face, her hair in a tangled mess while her face had almost lost the color from Shen Yi’s tight hold.

Lu Xinyi looked at her husband. She’d never seen him angry and agitated like this. He was shaking and sweating although the room was cool. His eyes couldn’t focus properly. She moved cautiously towards her husband and held his arm that was keeping Duan Yong pinned on the concrete wall behind her.

“Shen Yi, let her go,” she said. As much as she wants to slap this woman for keeping her husband away from her, she needs to make sure Shen Yi wouldn’t kill Duan Yong.

When Shen Yi heard her voice, his head snapped into her direction and then back to Duan Yong’s face as if considering what to do with her. After several seconds, Shen Yi released his hand from her throat and let her fall on the cold floor as she tried to take deep breaths.

Shen Yi moved and leaned his weight to his wife and held her close. Lu Xinyi could feel his fast heartbeat and the unusual warmth on his skin.

“Xinyi…” He whispered her name as if struggling and in pain.
