“Shut up! I’m still my mother’s daughter! She can’t turn her back on me!” Sun Qiyan gritted her teeth in anger. How did Lu Xinyi know that her mother had disowned her to deal with the problem alone? Was she the reason behind the sudden change in her mother’s behavior?

“You’re really an idiot if you think you can get away this time, Qiyan.” Lu Xinyi sneered back.

Why was this cousin of hers too dumb to understand her current situation? Even Sun Feiyan was smart enough to leave Sun Corp to their Aunt Mingai. If she’d predicted this would happen, Lu Xinyi didn’t know; but she was sure as hell that Sun Feiyan had just dodged a bullet by stepping down as Sun Corp’s CEO.

By giving up her position, Sun Feiyan was able to save herself from this trouble Lu Xinyi inflicted on the company.

“Stop with your nonsense, Lu Xinyi!” Despite the seed of doubt gnawing inside her, Sun Qiyan refused to believe that her mother had really disowned her because of what she did to Qiushan.

“Oh? So you think I’m spouting nonsense now? I was quite expecting that, with the time you spent here, you’ll reflect on what you did and admit your mistakes. I guess I was wrong to assume then.” Lu Xinyi sighed. “Still, for you to believe that your mother wouldn’t be heartbroken upon hearing you caused Qiushan’s death…”

She cast Sun Qiyan a pitiful glance. She was surprised that Qiyan was able to last this long with her dumb brain that she had.

Sun Qiyan was startled by what Lu Xinyi said. It wasn’t that she wasn’t aware of her action, it was just she hadn’t anticipated that Lu Xinyi would use this against her. Her mother had always favored Qiushan when they were younger. This was because when Sun Qiushan was born, their mother had a difficult birth; and Qiushan had been a sickly child since then.

“Qiushan was always favored between the two of you. Do you think your mother will choose you now just because you’ve gotten rid of your beloved sister?” the devil asked with sarcasm, “Don’t you know the pain your mother had to suffer because of you?”

Seeing Sun Qiyan broke into a cold sweat brought her so much satisfaction.

“Imagine, her youngest daughter went missing, only to find her buried ten feet below the ground. Then, she discovered that her other daughter—who’d constantly denied her awareness over her little sister’s disappearance—was the one that caused her beloved child’s death.”

If Sun Qiyan thought that this was hell, then her hell was incomparable to what Qiushan had after she gave her to Xi Yunchuan. The physical pain was overwhelming, the betrayal she got from her own sister, the future she’d lost… what Sun Qiyan was suffering now was just the tip of the iceberg.

“No… No…” Sun Qiyan cradled her head with both hands. She knew what Lu Xinyi said wasn’t wrong. For the longest time, her mother had forgotten about her and cast her aside, leaving her with expensive material things, while she pampered and loved Qiushan behind her.

This was why she never felt any remorse when she left Qiushan. Deep in her heart, she hated her younger sister the most; and that hatred only grew when Qiushan chose and adored Lu Xinyi over her.

She slammed her fist on the table and glared furiously at Lu Xinyi.

“This is all your doing! This isn’t supposed to happen!”

She glared at Lu Xinyi in anger, but she knew in her heart that what Lu Xinyi said wasn’t wrong at all. She knew what kind of person her mother was and how she loved Qiushan over her. She also knew that her Aunt Mingai would wash her hands and throw her under the bus as a sacrificial lamb.

All of these… she shouldn’t have listened to her Aunt Mingai. Now, it was too late to regret as the older woman knew how to draw on the advantages and avoid losing. Abandoning her meant that Sun Mingai would cut her losses.

If only her mother would step forward and rescue her. She was her mother after all. She thought that Sun Ruying wouldn’t continue to watch her suffering like this and would think of a way to rescue her just like what she did when Qiyan encountered a problem. Yet, Sun Qiyan failed to understand that her mother was also at a loss.

Lu Xinyi sighed. Her cousin was really hopeless and stupid. There’s no hope for her if she continued to refuse to think logically and blamed everything on her.

Sun Qiyan herself didn’t know if her mother would come back to aid her. Her emotions were filled with doubt and uneasiness. Even if everyone turned her back to her now, she didn’t care as long as her mother wouldn’t abandon her. That was why she was shocked when her mother said she disowned her as her daughter.

Since her mother left, Sun Qiyan told herself every passing day that her mother only said that because of anger, that once she cleared her mind, her mother would come back and save her. However, today was the third day she was kept in prison; and she never heard anything from her mother.

“Qiyan, you should know by now that you should face the consequences of your actions. You also know that your mother knows more than anyone. So… do you really think you’ll have a way-out after this? Do you think she’ll finally recognize you after you did to Qiushan? In fact, I’m also looking forward to what Aunt Ruying will choose.” Lu Xinyi looked at her gently.

Sun Qiyan was lost for words. She could only stare back at Lu Xinyi without speaking. Her body started to tremble without her noticing it. She was starting to doubt her beliefs. If her mother wouldn’t show up anytime soon, she was doomed to stay here in prison forever!

Even if there’s fear in her heart, she wouldn’t give Lu Xinyi the satisfaction to mock her.

“You’re not human.” She sneered at her.

Lu Xinyi raised a brow at that.

“And you think you are? Don’t you think it’s more inhumane for a sister like you to sell her own sister for personal gain? Oh, Qiyan. Please don’t patronize me. We both know that between us, you’re better at scheming than me.”

Sun Qiyan could only look at Lu Xinyi full of hatred.

“You’re about to reach the end of the road. You should be reflecting on your mistakes and beg forgiveness to those you harmed especially Qiushan. She must be really unfortunate to have an older sister like you. Don’t worry, this will be the last time I’ll see you. I will send you off.”

The last words Lu Xinyi uttered had made Sun Qiyan shiver in fear. She wasn’t that dumb not to understand what her cousin was saying. So Xi Yunchuan was really after her? She lifted her head and saw the small smile on Lu Xinyi’s lips, but her eyes were speaking of the hatred and cruelty she felt for her.

Lu Xinyi stood up and gave her a last condensing look. Her satisfied smile and the glint of mischief on her eyes weren’t lost to Sun Qiyan.

“Goodbye, Sun Qiyan, for there would be no next time.”
