Lu Xinyi didn’t reply and just stared at his eyes directly. This man was really hopeless. He was already in a critical situation, and yet he still found another person to blame for his own problems.

“Do you really think insulting my wife will make it easier for you?” Shen Yi answered nonchalantly for Lu Xinyi who now completely ignored Gong Yijun and let her husband took the reins of their conversation.

Gong Yijun swallowed nervously. His big mouth would bring him for more trouble if he wouldn’t shut up.

“You want to play a game? Sure, I’ll play with you. I’ll give you enough rope to hang yourself, or we could choose the easiest way.” Shen Yi gestured a gun sign with his hand and pretended to shoot himself in the head. Lu Xinyi kept silent as she crossed her ankles in front of her.

Gong Yijun shuddered in his seat, his red-rimmed eyes refusing to break away from Shen Yi’s intimidating gaze. In fact, he had known that this would be the end of him. He should have begged Lu Xinyi to save his life, and yet he continued to mock her. He was at her mercy.

“You… I have nothing against you,” he muttered under his breath.

Hearing his voice, Shen Yi almost found it comical that this man had still the guts to say that he did nothing wrong to offend him and his wife.

“Didn’t I warn you to leave Lu Xinyi alone already? How many times did you dare do it? Not only did you force yourself to bring her back, but you also assaulted her. Now, don’t you think that I had given enough warning to save your ass from your impending doom?”

His pride…his ego had been trampled on the ground in the presence of Shen Yi. He was too nervous to answer him back. He hated that he had nothing to be proud of against this man. He became the biggest joke of the century that Lu Xinyi couldn’t even hide the mockery in her eyes. How many times should this couple humiliate him?

The limo started to move, and he started to panic.

“What do you plan to do with me? Where are you taking me?”

There were coldness on Shen Yi’s face and sweetness on Lu Xinyi’s lips. As the light came from the outside, it made shadows on their faces. The view made him more frightened than ever. It was like he was being escorted to the gates of hell by Hades, the god of death and the king of the underworld, along with his beautiful queen, Persephone, at his side.

Shen Yi was almost the personification of death himself. He was stern and unyielding. He could not be moved by sympathy and pleading. He could not be swayed by anyone except for the woman that was clinging on his arm.

A moment later, the limo stopped. The door was opened outside by Qiao He himself, soon dragging Gong Yijun out of the car. Another three cars stopped, and several men came out from it. Struggling to keep himself on his feet, Gong Yijun looked around to see where they had taken him. It was a deserted bridge barely taken by the public. The coldness of the night that kissed his body made him tremble down to his bones. Was this the end for him?

“Lu Xinyi!” he screamed at the top of his lungs. He could hear the loud beating of his own heart in his ears. The wetness between his legs made Qiao He wrinkled his nose in disgust. Gong Yijun had peed his own pants.

The woman he was calling stood before Shen Yi with her arms crossed on her chest. The skirt of her light-colored dress she was wearing swayed around her as the wind blew. With the darkness of the night, Gong Yijun could barely make out what her face look like. Shen Yi took off the coat of his suit and dropped it on her shoulders to protect her from cold.

Qiao He dragged Gong Yijun at the edge of the bridge and pushed his upper body outside the railings. With his weight, Gong Yijun would surely fall down straight to the deep, raging river below them.

Adrenaline pumped within his system. He could feel the surge in his veins as if they were trying to explode within his body. He thought his heart would burst with his eyes wide with fear and terror. His mind was screaming at him to run fast and move away from these men to safety… but instead, his body was frozen and couldn’t even move a single muscle.
