Five days later…

“Oh come on Xiao Lan, you didn’t gain too much weight. You don’t look like a whale.” Lu Xinyi tried to keep her laughter in but it was hard with what with Xiao Lan struggling to fit on her pair of jeans.

Xiao Lan just announced that morning that she was pregnant. She and her husband had been waiting for it for three years and they were thrilled and excited when they found out she’s carrying a child.

“Obviously Xinxin, this doesn’t fit me anymore.” Xiao Lan narrowed her eyes in the mirror as she watched Lu Xinyi smiling ear to ear.

Since the night of the charity gala, Xiao Lan had requested to stay with Lu Xinyi. The guilt she felt pushed her to make a decision. Coincidentally, her husband will be traveling abroad for his business trip so she will be left alone. Madam Shen had allowed her to stay within the Shen Mansion to accompany Lu Xinyi while everyone was busy at work.

Lu Xinyi was very happy for her friend and she couldn’t stop the grin appearing on her face. Ah, she couldn’t wait to see the baby. She wondered if she was starting to have baby blues.

“Stop looking so cranky. I thought you said you’ve been waiting for this. Being pregnant means you will have a baby bump soon.” Lu Xinyi laughed at her friend.

Xiao Lan gave up on her jeans, took them off and headed to her closet to find a loose skirt she could wear for today. She then turned to Lu Xinyi and gave her a sly smile.

“Ha! Wait until Shen Yi knock you up with all the playtime you’ve been doing recently.” she teased back.

Lu Xinyi looked away with her cheeks tinged red.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she muttered.

Xiao Lan gasped in mocked outrage.

“Oh no, you can’t lie to me, Xinxin. I don’t believe that little injury can stop the two of you with your playtime at night. Twins are in their genes. Maybe he can knock you up with twins.”

Lu Xinyi swatted Xiao Lan’s arm, with her brown eyes widened in horror.

“Xiao Lan, don’t scare me like that!”

Twins?! One child was already hard for a woman to conceive and bear what more if it was twins or triplets.

The thought almost drained the color in her face. It wasn’t that she didn’t like to have children with Shen Yi. Truth to be told, she very much like the idea of it but she didn’t think she was ready for it.

“You aren’t helping me, Xinxin! I’m telling you this is a crisis! I have no more clothes that could fit onto me.” Xiao Lan snapped back at her.

Lu Xinyi rolled her eyes and checked the time on her phone. They still have enough time to shop for Xiao Lan’s clothes. Oh, they could also shop things for the baby.

“Xiao Lan, for the last time, you don’t look any different!” She took in a closer look, while Xiao Lan’s chest looked larger than usual, Lu Xinyi thought there wasn’t any distinct change on her friend’s appearance.

“How about we go on a little shopping spree? I’ll take one of Shen Yi’s car. I don’t think he will mind if we do a little shopping.” Lu Xinyi suggested.

“What little shopping? Shen Yi is the one who keeps begging you to spend his money but what do you do? Spend most of them with foods and buying new ingredients for trying out new recipes.” Xiao Lan stated the fact back to Lu Xinyi.

Lu Xinyi shook her head, she was starting to miss Shen Yi again but she knew she had to wait for several hours just to see him.

“How about you take your purse first and I will wait for you downstairs? I’ll drive so you can just sit back and relax. What do you think?”

“Sounds great!” Xiao Lan paused, remembering something, “Wait. Are you sure this is a good idea? I thought Shen Yi said you should rest your foot for few more days.” Xiao Lan inquired.

“Don’t mind him. He’s just a worry wart. The doctor had already cleared me and said that it should be fine to move around.”

Lu Xinyi was starting to get hungry too. Maybe they could stop and grab some cheeseburgers along the way and get some yummy fruit shakes. Her mouth started to water at the idea of her afternoon snacks. She just hoped that Shen Yi wouldn’t get mad at her taking his Audi R8 to shop with Xiao Lan.
