Qiao Xi looked at him curiously. Gu Zheng pursed his lips and just said, “There was no such thing.”

Qiao Xi nodded. Whether Gu Zheng had promised Shen Ying or not did not matter to her as long as the two did not disgust her.

If someone like Gu Zheng really had feelings for Shen Ying, he would not deliberately say such things to her just because his wife was by his side. “Old Madam is waiting for you in the greenhouse.”

With that, the servant left.

The greenhouse was filled with sunlight. Under the golden sunlight, a white-haired old woman was lying on a rocking chair with a blanket over her. When she saw Gu Zheng and Qiao Xi enter, she smiled and waved at them.

Gu Zheng’s cold eyebrows gradually relaxed. He walked in and squatted beside the old woman. He held her hand and called out softly, “Grandma.”

Qiao Xi had never seen Gu Zheng like this. He had always been cold and taciturn. When angered, he would say nasty things, and the corners of his mouth would always carry a wisp of a mocking smile as he looked down on the world. Old Madam Gu patted Gu Zheng’s hand. “Good child, you’ve been working hard.”
