Chapter 60 - Penetrating Her Walls

Chen Yi sighed. Once the silence dominated the surroundings, Housekeeper Zhen said from the entrance. "Eldest Miss... Welcome back!" In his eyes, there was an inexplicable emotion. Something akin to incredulity, pride, and admiration.

In his memories, Chen Yi used to be a submissive girl with a passive personality.

However, today she truly astonished him. The way she had handled the situation, tactfully and without showing any opening for her opponent to attack, it felt like she was no longer the simple girl he once knew.

"Thank you, Uncle Zhen." Chen Yi faced the warm-looking old man. She smiled. At least there was someone left in this home to welcome her. "Thank you for all those years after my parent's death, you have been secretly looking out for me. I had been ignorant in the past and failed to appreciate your kindness. For all that you have done for me, I thank you."

Hearing Chen Yi's words, Housekeeper Zhen was abashed. "No, no Eldest Miss, this old man doesn't deserve your gratitude. What I did was to pay the dept of gratitude to your mother. At that time when I was newly hired, my wife had suddenly suffered from leukemia. I was devastated. If not for Madam Chen's help, she would have died. Instead, I feel guilty. I had been unable to look after you properly..." Housekeeper Chen looked remorseful.

After Chen Yi was forced to leave her home, he had gone around to search for her. However, she had disappeared. He couldn't find her.

A month later, he had discreetly helped her and arranged a job for her.

"No matter what, if there was someone else in your position. I am sure he wouldn't have gone out of his way to help out a disowned person."

Housekeeper Zhen could not deny that. Even in the aristocratic families, once someone falls from grace, no one would help him. Because after Chen Yi was disowned, not a single one of her relatives came forward to help her. "About what Miss Ye Zhouyan said earlier regarding Eldest Miss' parents, please don't take it to heart. "No, I won't be staying here." Chen Yi said surprising Housekeeper Zhen.

"Then why did you..."

"I wanted to clear my parent's home of pests." Chen Yi laughed. "How could I let those shameless people enjoy what was not theirs? Right... Uncle Zhen, I will assign this task to you. Later if my Uncle Chen tries to get in the Manor, you must not let him. Other than that, during my absence keep this home clean and tidy. I would visit from time to time until my brother comes back from aboard."

Saying a few more instructions, Chen Yi went upstairs to her previous bedroom. She sighed in relief when she found that it was not destroyed by her Aunt and Uncle.

It was still in the same condition she had left. 

She walked forward and sat upon her small bed. Chen Yi didn't know how long had passed when her ringtone jolted her out of her reminiscence of the past. The identity of the caller lifted her mood.

"So has my wife claimed what belonged to her?" A cheerful voice came from the other end.

"What do you think?" Chen Yi's lips uncontrollably curled up. It was as if just hearing a sentence from that man could dissipate all the dark clouds of gloominess from her life and shower her in warn sunlight.

"Hmm... what do I think?" Li Luxian swirled in his huge office chair. "I think my wife taught a good lesson to those who bullied her."

Chen Yi laughed: "How can you know that for certain? You are just talking sweet."

"I believe in you." Li Luxian said firmly.

Detecting the clear confidence in his tone, Chen Yi realized he was not joking. She bit her lip in nervousness. The feeling of having someone trust in you fully was new to Chen Yi. And it was a very nice feeling. Chen Yi felt proud of her accomplishment.

During her time with Fu Jianguo, he had never said such words to her. He had never said that he believed in her; instead, he had been criticizing her at every instant, constantly trying to lower her worth in her own eyes.

She could not understand how a simple sentence from this man... could make her feel so incredibly happy. 

At that moment Chen Yi realized, if there was any man who would be able to overcome the walls around her heart, then it was him.

She could already feel him penetrating her walls.

"Between, I have a surprise for you."

"Surprise?"

"People who dare to mess with my wife, I won't let them off easily." He laughed evilly.

"Did that Chen Yi actually do that?" Chen Yazhu asked again in astonishment.

His wife, Ye Zhouyan had rushed to his office, crying and enraged while cursing Chen Yi. "Husband, do you not believe me? I'm telling you, you must teach that b*tch a lesson! At that time, I had asked you to take good care of her. But it was you who had to go soft in the end and let her leave just like that.
