Chapter 22 - What A Peasant Like You Is Doing In The VIP Section?

Chen Yi wanted to think that he was joking but the serious expressions on his face told her otherwise. It took her a few moments to get a hold over her disbelief. "3 minutes and 46 seconds?" She laughed.

"Actually 7 minutes and 46 seconds considering the amount of time I have been waiting."

Do these 7 minutes and 46 seconds to your mother! You should rather go and marry a clock!

Chen Yi forced herself to smile. "Mr. Li, I encountered a little problem in the building." Her voice was very polite.

Outwardly, she was all smiles and respect. After all, he was Li Luxian. How could her humble self dare to curse him?

Li Luxian furrowed his brows.

"What problem?"

"Nothing. Just some bunch of scumbags finding trouble with me for that scandal" Chen Yi gave a dismissive gesture with her hands. They could've caused a bigger problem for her but with Mr. Xu taking her sides, the matter was resolved and didn't need any further concern from her side.

However, she had no idea that slightest mention of those who bullied her, who were already being kicked out of the building and enduring the wrath of Mr. Xu, to Li Luxian was going to ruin them completely by the hands of Li Luxian men

Li Luxian glanced at his secretary and secretary Zhang understood it at once and walked to a corner to make a call. That call marked the end of Xhi Yuhan, Lui Chao and some others who sided her to bully Li Luxian wife.

"So Mr. Li where are we going?" Chen Yi was curious.

To her surprise, Mr. Li, who had been coolly leaning against that black Mercedes, straightened and walked closer to her. When the distance between them gradually reduced, she grew hesitant and reluctantly took a step back.

"Mr. Li, what are you..."

He grabbed her hand and looked into her eyes romantically.

"Don't call me Mr. Li. Call me by my name. We are already engaged. Are you intending to call me Mr. Li even after we got married?"

Chen Yi didn't know what to do. Her face flushed. Her throat felt so dry. She wanted to gulp down a bucket of ice-cold water.

Why was she always like a hormonal teenager with him?

And what was with that overly-sweet touchy attitude now?

She stupidly stared at that chiseled face that was so close that it could give her a jolt in the heart. She could hear her heart pounding in her ear.

"We are being watched, wife." Li Luxian cleared; a teasing smile never leaving his lips.

Chen Yi frowned as her mind slowly processed his words.

Inadvertently Chen Yi's eyes wandered away and searched for those who were watching them. In truth, she looked around partially to look away from those deep, soul-devouring eyes. Her eyes had barely caught an ephemeral shadow of something when she felt strong fingers firmly grasping her chin and forcing her to look back in those deep brown orbs.

"Don't look around. They might get suspicious" Li Luxian was looking intently at her gorgeous face as his thumb gently caressed her cheek. Chen Yi could feel his hot thumb against the sensitive skin of her cheek.

"Cough... Cough... Mr. Li, we should go." This was making her nervous.

She really needed some self-control in with that man! She had to remind herself that he was only acting to stop her heart from somersaulting already.

"Let's go" He laughed observing her nervousness. It was so fun to mess with her.

"Alright wife."

If his wife to be was used to getting embarrassed by such a little tease, he could only laugh imagining her reaction once he did more bad things to her once they got married.

The interior of the car was as refreshing and lavish as it could be. It smelt nice and the seats were comfy. She had to admit Li Luxian had a nice taste.

On the way, Chen Yi inquired about his family.

Li Luxian brought her to a five-star restaurant that was exclusively reserved for the autocratic society under Li corporations. A commoner couldn't set a foot in that place. So the people from the wealthiest families could be spotted.

The manager, Cheng Tian, eager to curry favor with the CEO received them with great reverence and flattery visible in his course of action.

"Mr. Li, I've arranged the VIP table for you in the middle."

Li Luxian nodded. It was when his phone rang. He frowned looking up at the foreign number.

"Is it an important call?" Chen Yi noticed conflicted expressions on his face.

"I think so..."

"Go on. Attend the all. I'll be alright."

"I'll be quick." Reluctantly Li Luxian walked away.

"Ms. Chen, let me walk you to your table," Cheng Tian said. His voice still held respect. Mr. Li had never brought a lady here before so it was easy for him to speculate that she was the one in the scandal that Mr. Li said he intended to marry.

So he was only wise to treat the future lady boss with respect!

"There is no need." Chen Yi politely declined. "I'll alright on my own"

Cheng Tian insisted but Chen Yi remained adamant. She didn't want to be stared at when the owner walked her to their table. In the end, her will prevailed and she finally walked to her table and sat quietly, waiting for Mr. Li.

It was when she heard a voice behind her back.
