Chapter 146 - Manager Shen Is Scared Out Of Her Wits

No matter how discontented Director Song was, it was the reality. If they keep Chen Yi, the production was a goner. Something no one in the production team wanted to see.

In fact, Producer Wang had already accepted Chen Ying's investment. Raising the movie from a C rank to an A rank movie. With this, they could smoothen the early obstacles. But nothing could take the movie to the level Director Song felt that girl could take. 

If only, they could find some other sponsor.

While Director Song sighed endlessly in regret, his phone suddenly rang. The assistant brought it to him. "Director!"

"No, I'm not in the mood. Take it away." He feard if he attended the call, the person at the end would suffer the brunt of his bad temper.

"Alright, I'll attend it in your stead." Yuan Qingeng walked out of the room, picking up the call and engaging the person.

Director Song went back to his chair, gloomily mulling over the new heights of success he could have reached if there was some way out. In the end, he shook his head "It's useless. I should close this chapter."

If he wasn't reckless and invested his own money in the last production, he would have had funds to spare for this movie. Just as Director Song was about to give up his hopes for good, Yuan Qingeng came back rushing in opening the door rather abruptly, startling Director Song.

"No, nothing." Chen Ying denied at once. "If she had some support, she would have long made a counteract. She had been silent all those years."

"Oh, it's just that the other day my man saw her leaving the auditioning venue in a luxury car. That got me thinking." 

Chen Ying looked back. Her eyes were still livid with hatred. "Are you certain?"

"Positive." Qin Chanpu replied. "Even Zhao Hua saw her. It can't be she hired a car just for show?"

"No, she wouldn't do that. She is not the type who would do that." Chen Ying knew her cousin well. She knew Chen Yi hated pretense. In other words, she would not have arrived in the car if she truly didn't possess it.

"Come to think of it, it hasn't been long since everything started to go wrong." Chen Ying mused. Ever since Chen Ying contacted Chen Yi after a long period of her disappearance, she had always felt something different about Chen Yi, something off.

From the news to her disappearance from her previous residence, it appeared something drastic had happened in Chen Yi's life.

She had gained a backing all of sudden. 

"Do not worry, Ying'er." Qin Chanpu assured with a smile. "Even if she gets selected, in the end, she has to be signed over by the company. Besides, I have already bombarded her with difficult jobs We will see if she gets time to show her face to Director Song. We have a hold over her. She needs my signs. And I'm not going to give them to her easily." Qin Chanpu's lips raised in a lecherous smile. He had his own plans. 

Chen Yi was a woman with a temper. He liked this sort of woman. A pretty face and a spicy temper. It would be much more pleasurable once he had her beg him. Inch by inch take away the last of her self-respect, bring her to tears, and destroy her.

Even the thought of this got him excited.

"You must not give her your signs."

"Of course, I won't." Qin Chanpu laughed. "Don't you know me? But I will certainly have her think otherwise to make her do my bidding. If you know what I mean. In that way, we can have a ledge over her. Didn't you want that?"

"Of course," Hearing Qin Chanpu words, Chen Ying recalled how important it was for them to get that hold over her. The sooner the better. "But be careful." The possibility that Chen Yi might have some powerful backing nibbled at the back of Chen Ying's mind. For some reason, she felt very uneasy.

Someone who forced her to sign a contract riddled with loopholes under her nose could do anything.

Shen Yue had said it before. Chen Ying had made the worst mistake of her life by letting Chen Yi in the company.

Chen Yi was not simple.

Now with that specific contract, Shen Yue's words were bound to come true. 

"Damn it what to do?" Shen Yue felt like biting her nails. The contract would be brought afront sooner than she expected. Her doom was nearer.

"Shen Jie, can I do something for you?" A timid voice spoke behind her back. Su Xiuying filled a glass with water and took it to Shen Yue, her hands trembling.

"When did you come?" Contrary to what one might expect, Shen Yue's voice was gentle as she addressed Su Xiuying. She accepted the glass. Taking a few sips, she felt better. 

"Shen Jie called me to visit the office this morning, have you forgotten?"

Recalling this, Shen Yue sighed.. "Su Xiuying, there is a favor I might need to ask of you."
