Chapter 132 Never

The helicopter landed on the roof but no-one was there.

Yu Chen's men immediately realized that the access door might had been kept locked for security purposes so without thinking twice, they destroyed it.

As soon as the door was opened, choking people scrambled to get out. Yu Chen was already equipped with a breathing apparatus as he run towards the opened door. And in a blink of an eye, he was gone. His men could only curse as they all dashed inside the door to follow him. They had been pleading him to stay outside and wait but Yu Chen was just unstoppable. They had never seen him in such level of extreme desperateness before.

The call was still connected as Yu Chen ran down the dark stairs. The only thing he could hear at that moment was her voice ringing like a song of life from the earphone that was plugged in his ear. He couldn't even hear the beating of his heart, just her voice alone.

But when he heard an explosion, he felt like his heart had stopped. And then, he heard her said the words he's been waiting for these past few days.

At that moment, he could tell that things are getting really bad just by hearing her quivering voice. But he would never, ever, give up. He would never let anything take her away, never again.

Luo Xiaolei could only watch the blazing inferno before her, roaring like a raging beast and ready to devour her whole.

She couldn't even hear even the simplicity of her heart racing in her chest. She could only watch everything without action. She didn't even have the strength to keep her head from drooping on the floor. She wanted to scream. But she knew there was no use. She could tell there was no escape for her anymore.

Seeing that the call was still connected, Luo Xiaolei raised the phone to her ear again. She forced herself to speak, despite her lips trembling.

"Yu Chen… I'm sorry. I can't keep my promise to stay with you for four more months. Please take care of the little buns for me, okay? I… I really, really, miss you." she uttered. In that moment, her memories had started playing like a movie in her head. But it wasn't about the things she had been working on so hard for these past four years. It wasn't even the dream that she was chasing; the memories flashing in her consciousness was all about Yu Chen and her two little buns. The flashbacks were like nostalgic video clips and it was literally dominated by Yu Chen. She could even clearly see his adorable expression while wearing his iconic panda outfit and Luo Xiaolei couldn't help but smile.

Does this mean that Yu Chen's existence was actually the best thing that had happened in this second life of hers? She didn't even need to answer anymore.

For some reason, thinking about him, his adorableness, his peculiarities, his innocence and everything, Luo Xiaolei was strangely not in pain, nor in misery. Instead, she somehow felt glad. She had been miraculously given the second chance to live for an unknown reason. She still couldn't find the answer but if everything really had to end here, she thought that she didn't even have the right to curse. Because she thought that this life was not that bad at all, and that she was glad that she had at least met someone like Yu Chen before this dream was over.

Closing her eyes, Luo Xiaolei uttered mindlessly as she smiled, "Sigh… I shouldn't have hesitated. I regret not teaching you lots of naughty things. I wish I didn't listen to you when you said to take it slowly. I wish I…"

As those last two words escape her lips, a tear drop fell from her eyes and then… something fell from above her.

The phone in her hand slipped from her grip as she waited for whatever it was that would hit her. The sound of a falling debris echoed but nothing had hit her.

As if she was suddenly in dream, a strong arm picked her from the burning bottom of hell, lifting her up like a princess.

Luo Xiaolei opened her eyes and saw a man wearing protective masks. She couldn't see his face but she just knew it was Yu Chen. She didn't know if this was a dream but she wanted to hug him, embrace him tight and just kiss him.

But she was too weak to move. She saw another burning debris falling on them. She wanted to scream and tell him to watch out but she already felt like she choking to death and she could only shut her eyes closed.

The next second, she felt him fell on his knee. When she opened her eyes again, she saw a blurry image of someone else's, helping them out.

It was already dark when Luo Xiaolei woke up. It was obvious that she was inside a VVIP ward.

She was still a bit weak but she forced herself to get up. She looked around but no one was with her. When the memories came flashing back in her head, the first thing Luo Xiaolei did was climb out of her bed. It was because she remembered seeing Yu Chen badly injured. It was a blurry scene but all she could see was him, being rushed to the ER alongside her. He was drenched with blood.

For some reason, Luo Xiaolei couldn't help but tremble in horror. She didn't know why. She was not even sure if the memories in her head was reality or just a dream, she hoped it was. But an extreme worry was consuming her as the image of the bloody Yu Chen was flashing relentlessly in her head.

After removing the cannula from her hand, Luo Xiaolei stood. She wobbled and as she struggled to steady herself, someone entered the door.

"Miss, what are you…" upon hearing Guan Ye's voice, Luo Xiaolei didn't waste a moment to ask.

"Where is Yu Chen?!"

Guan Ye could see her perplexed expression so he moved closer to her. He didn't answer her question, instead, he attempted to help her back to her bed. But Luo Xiaolei pushed his hands away.

"I'm asking you, where is Yu Chen?!" her voice was starting to quiver. Seeing her reactions, Guan Ye realized that Luo Xiaolei was not unaware about what had happen to Yu Chen so he decided to just spill it out.

"The boss is currently being treated right now. The surgery is about to end." He said and Luo Xiaolei's face abruptly became visibly paler.

"S-surgery? W-why? Didn't he suffer just a small wound?"
