Chapter 633: Devil’s Day, Baptism

Chen Zhao came to Hell again.

Today, it seemed to be special. The sun and moon were both out.

Chen Zhao’s Mouth of Gluttony appeared directly. The Curse Vision and Eye of Shadow Vision opened at the same time.

He felt excitement in his blood.

“Human, welcome.” Orris went to give Chen Zhao a hug.

Beelzebub Zofee also hugged him.

Even though they were both superior demons, Chen Zhao liked hugging Orris more.

Zofee didn’t know how to control his power at all.

The hug made Chen Zhao feel that his bones were about to get crushed.

“Lord, Madam, is today a special day? I feel like my blood is boiling.”

“Devil’s Day,” Zofee said. “I picked today to summon you here.”

In the west, Devil’s Day was June 6.

Chen Zhao realized that it was indeed Devil’s Day in the human world.

He just didn’t notice. He didn’t think it was an actual thing either.

“Why?”

“Every demon has one chance to be baptized. It allows their demon power to be purer and stronger,” Zofee said. “But based on each demon’s wealth, they receive different benefits from the baptism.”

Zofee and Orris brought Chen Zhao to the highest point of Obsidian Castle. It was the top of a circular tower. It wasn’t covered with a roof and there was a big magic formation drawn on the gray tile with blood.

There were also a dozen bodies. They were all demon corpses.

Judging from their size, they didn’t seem to have a low status either.

Chen Zhao suspected that they’d been Samuel Logan’s underlings.

“Do you still have angelic crystals?” Zofee asked.

“Yes.” Chen Zhao took out a perfect crystal. He’d received this from killing Jerry last time.

Zofee didn’t like the aura, but merely touching it wouldn’t hurt him.

“Ha!” He crushed it with all his might.

Chen Zhao realized that he could crush the angelic crystal without much power.

But Zofee seemed to have trouble. Was it because they countered each other?

Then Zofee sprinkled the powder over the magic formation.

“What is this for?”

“Sacrifice,” Orris said. “To a mighty Demon King, all beings can be sacrificed. The more superior the sacrifice, the more you receive in return. Regular demons may prepare the entire year for this. As His Majesty’s enemy, angels would be the highest level of sacrifice. Of course, no one can actually sacrifice angels, so we can use angelic crystals in their place.”

“No, go stand in the center of the magic formation.”

Chen Zhao dragged his huge right arm and stood in the center of the formation.

Orris lowered onto one knee while murmuring something.

“I’m not sure what you’ll receive from His Majesty,” Zofee said. “But if you feel like you can’t take it anymore, leave the center. If it surpasses your limit, you’ll burst from his power.”

“Okay, understood.”

Zofee also lowered onto one knee at the side.

Next, he and Orris placed their wrists at their mouths at the same time and bit down hard.

The blood of the two superior demons dripped onto the blood-red magic formation.

“Sahu, Marsala, Hilda, Wuz, Yiduta…”

Zofee and Orris uttered complicated and difficult syllables.

Chen Zhao understood the demon language, but he still didn’t know what they were saying.

Suddenly, he felt something. He looked up at the red sun and moon.

In that instant, he saw a figure descend from the sky.

It seemed to be filled with light but also shrouded in darkness.

Chen Zhao couldn’t see the six-pointed star emblazoned into the figure’s eyes.

As if his right arm had lost control, it raised in the air.

His entire arm was covered in blood and the Mouth of Gluttony was screaming.

Right then, his clothes exploded.

Black lines appeared under his skin.

This was the blood from the King of Wrath that Logan had left in him last time.

Samuel still hadn’t helped cleanse him of it.

Right now, that blood was also affected and emerged.

The figure in the sky grasped Chen Zhao’s right arm.

The other hand pressed onto his chest.

The figure opened his mouth and uttered syllables like Beelzebub Zofee and his wife.

Next, the black lines on Chen Zhao started falling. They landed on the ground and transformed into a pool of black liquid.

His right arm also shrunk back to its original size.

Chen Zhao felt that the Mouth of Gluttony didn’t weaken. Instead, it became even stronger.

Immediately after, the Mouth of Gluttony bit down at the figure.

The figure was now missing a corner. The black liquid on the ground also extended and wrapped the remaining parts of the figure and dragged it into the darkness.

Before it was completely dragged into darkness, the Mouth of Gluttony took another bite.

Then Chen Zhao shook his head. He woke up.

The blood-red magic formation on the ground disappeared.

Zofee and Orris stood on the side, looking at him. “You completely accepted His Majesty’s gift?”

Chen Zhao scratched his head. “I can’t really remember what happened.”

“That’s normal. Most demons can’t remember the process. Even if they remember, the baptism in everyone’s memories are different.”

“I sensed Logan’s blood in you.”

“You swallowed his blood before?”

“Yes.” Chen Zhao didn’t deny it.

He looked at his right arm. It looked a bit darker than his left arm.

Then he lowered his head and looked at his shadow underfoot.

Suddenly, his heart jumped. His shadow suddenly extended a hand that had been formed by the black liquid.

He was shocked. This was too strange.

But as he got distracted, the hand transformed back into a liquid and returned to his shadow.

“Come, try punching me,” Zofee said.

“Punch you?”

“Yes, use all your power.”

Chen Zhao grasped his right arm. “So, punch you with all my might?”

He knew that he was still far from Zofee’s level, so he didn’t worry that he could hurt Zofee.
