Chapter 75: Lobbyist

Li Tian crawled away from me, crying and shouting. I pushed away Jing Tian’s hands and turned to catch Li Tian. I only had one thought in my mind, I can’t allow her to live to call me a bastard anymore!

But the next second, I fell back into Jing Tian’s arms. “Nanxing, Nanxing! It’s me, Jing Tian! Look at me!”

I did and lifted my head to look at him. Jing Tian, you’re so handsome! I smiled brightly at him.

He asked me, “Nanxing, why did you hit her? She made you mad?”

I nodded and heard myself say, “They placed a plaque on my table calling me a bitch. She said I was an illegitimate bastard. Jing Tian, no one can insult my parents, I have to make them shut up!”

Jing Tian nodded. “Okay, Nanxing, leave this to me. I’ll handle this, okay?” I looked at him with a frown as if confused. Jing Tian elaborated, “Nanxing I will make sure that these people will never appear before you again, alright?” I finally understood what he meant. Jing Tian is always there to help me. I was suddenly so tired. O well, I’ll leave it to Jing Tian.

When I woke up, I was already in bed. There was a lamp beside my bed. I was startled. When did I fall asleep? What time is it? I jumped down from bed and walked out barefooted. My memory was vague, I believed I had forgotten something but I did remember Jing Tian. So I went to his study to look for him.

“7th uncle, Li Tian already knows her mistake, why are you being so cruel to them? I’ll have Li Tian apologize to Nanxing and we’ll bury this hatchet. Get Nanxing out here, I will promise her in person that Li Tian will never dare to provoke her again.” It was Jing Ning’s voice.

I stopped.

Jing Tian replied, “Apologize? Do you really think all Nanxing needs is a simple apology?”

Jing Ning countered, “What else does she want then? The bridge of Li Tian’s nose is broken. If she insisted on suing, Nanxing will be in trouble too. In the end, Nanxing will be in more hot waters. Therefore, 7th uncle, you should know what to do. I will go and convince Li Tian and the Li Family to calm down and give up on the legal battle. But you will have to stop persecuting the Li Family.”

Jing Tian’s voice was still as even as before, “So you’re here as the Li Family’s lobbyist! If the Li Family really thinks they have the power to win the legal battle, then tell them to go ahead. I will hire the best lawyer for Nanxing to countersue them!”

Jing Ning was desperate. “7th uncle, do you even hear yourself? Why are you so protective of her? Haven’t you heard the rumors which are circulating? You have to…”

“Jing Ning!” Jing Tian interrupted him. “In this matter, Nanxing is the victim of provocation. Furthermore, if Li Tian is really that sincere in her apology, she would have come in person to apologize and not send you over here in her behalf. You’re here because I’ve decided to persecute the Li Family and they’re worried. However, they still don’t think it was wrong of Li Tian to spread those nasty rumors about Nanxing. What about you? Jing Ning, do you also think Li Tian is right, Nanxing is a nympho bastard?”

Jing Ning was silent.

Jing Tian continued, “Nanxing doesn’t need this kind of cheap and insincere apology so save it. And don’t think I don’t know who has been spreading those false rumors. Go and deal with it, if the rumors continue after 3 more days, I will make sure both the Li Family and the Tian Family will go bankrupt. But Jing Ning, I am honestly surprised. Jing Ning couldn’t answer.

Jing Tian scoffed. “I will be protecting Nanxing no matter what. If they have any objection, feel free to come raise it with me. But this incident regarding Nanxing, there’s no room for negotiation!”

Jing Tian pulled open the door and saw me standing there. He frowned. “What are you doing here?” He lowered his head and saw my feet. He immediately took out a pair of slippers from the shoe rack and helped me put them on. He complained, “I haven’t encountered anyone who take less care of themselves.”

I glanced at the slippers and smiled. “Well, if I had put shoes on, you would have heard me and I wouldn’t be able to eavesdrop.”

Jing Tian was startled before he tapped lightly on my forehead. “Next time, just walk in openly, don’t act like a thief around the house!”

I nodded with a smile. Jing Tian’s affection for me was clear.

I didn’t even need to look to guess the expression on Jing Ning’s face… But what does that have to do with me?
