Little Qiang's voice continued to sound from Xiu Mei's phone speakers. It seems likes the heaven was seriously not on her side today. How the hell did the call turn into speaker mode?!

Xiu Mei did not dare look at Lu Chen's eyes. She kept her head down as she chanted her prayers in her mind.

So is this the D-day for her beheading? Xiu Mei almost kneeled down to cry.

Would Mr.Lu think that she was trying to dupe his son just to get close to him like the previous girls who tried to climb his bed? Will she be fired?

Even though Xiu Mei looks not a bit panicked from her outer appearance, clearly, her mind was in chaos.

She was imagining the worst case scenarios that she didn't notice the slight curl that made their way in Lu Chen's mouth.

The mighty emperor CEO who was staring at the phone was chuckling silently. He was quite bewildered by his reaction but he did not mind the slip of his emotions in front of his secretary.

Hearing his son calling his secretary that certain endearment, he wasn't angry at all. Contrary to what Xiu Mei had imagined, he was actually fine with Lu Qiang calling Xiu Mei 'Mom'.

After all, it was the only role that he, Lu Chen, could never make up for.

Seeing no actions from Xiu Mei, Lu Che took the liberty of picking up her phone from the carpeted floor. While crouching, he took a quick peek at Xiu Mei who was facing downwards.

He didn't know whether to laugh or cry when he read the emotion on her face. Though Xiu Mei had picked up a lot of things from him and Lu Shao for the past 4 years, for Lu Chen, her trying to remain her composed expression would always be seen through by him.

He had a faint clue on what's running on Xiu Mei's mind at this very moment upon seeing her expression.

Still, being able to watch the slight change of emotions of Xiu Mei is a pleasurable thing for Lu Chen.

Xiu Mei was the only female he had been very close to for the past few years. He had watched Xiu Mei grow from an innocent sheep into a tigress upon entering the industry.

Hence, of all the females he'd known, Xiu Mei was the best candidate to be Lu Qiang's mother.

"Mom? Are you still there?" Lu Qiang's voice echoed once again.

"...Dad? Are you making Mom do overtime again?"

"Yeah. Go fix yourself, she and I will go home now so that she can read you some bedtime stories just like you wanted."
