Chapter 146 - Data Breach News

Xiu Mei sat at the edge of the bed in a daze wondering what just happened.

Did she...Did Lu Chen...w-what did they just…?

Her brain is in a mess as she tried to get her thoughts straight. She held her head and inhaled sharply when she realized the reality.

'Did I almost succ.u.mb to Lu Chen's charm that I was so close to agreeing to his request to...help him with his hard-on?' Is what she thought.

He threw her a weird look at first but eventually realized why she was acting like that after seeing her blushing face when she raised her head and looked at his direction. As soon as she saw him, she hiccuped and froze for a second before turning her head away quickly avoiding his eyes.

He chuckled, smiling at her. His wife's fl.u.s.tered appearance is always so adorable. Even though they've been at it for how many times, she would always react as if it was their first time kissing like that.

Before he got out of the bathroom, he was already properly dressed. This time, he wore a silk satin pajamas set of shirt and trousers. He walked over to where he left his wife and sat beside her. She was still lying on the bed with her back facing him.

He extended his arm over her body and ruffled her hair.

"Wife, come on."

Xiu Mei was too embarrassed to face him right now. Keeping her head on the pillow, she refused to give him a response.

"Wife." He called her again.

Still not receiving any response from her, he finally made up his mind.

Lu Chen climbed on the bed and stopped in the middle. Facing Xiu Mei's body, he grabbed her by the waist and lifted her.

She panicked for a second thinking whether he was planning something devious and naughty again but instead, she was more surprised with what he did next.

After lifting her up, he pulled her up higher on the bed, and while hugging her waist, dragged her back on the bed. After finally positioning themselves in the middle of the bed, he wrapped his arm underneath her head, and the other on her waist.

He was hugging her from the back and his head laid very closely on her nape. He stuck so close to her that she could even feel his warm breath tickling her.

"Goodnight, my wife." He whispered. He left a fleeting kiss on the slightly exposed skin on her shoulder.

Oh… so he was just pulling to her sleep.

"Goodnight, Chen." She responded. His arm around her waist tightened in response. She looked at the arm around her waist and thought for a second before finally placing hers over his arm.

Patting it lightly at first then she just left her arm laying there over his arm. This way, it was like she was hugging him back.

Shifting her head a little bit, she comfortably settled on his arm and closed her eyes.

The sleep that never visited her an hour ago is now pulling her consciousness away.

The next morning, while the two of them were having their breakfast, she was disturbed by the call of her assistant again.

"Hello?"

"Ms.Xiu, we have a problem!"

Normally, Xiu Mei would have responded something silly to her by now but hearing her assistant's serious voice on the other line, she held herself back. Her hand that was spreading the butter on her toast paused as she tightened her hold on her phone.

"What is it?"

"The data breach from a few weeks ago was leaked to the press!"

"The what?!" Xiu Mei stood up from her seat and quickly turned on the flat-screen television in the living room. After switching it to the news channel, she can see their building with the Lu Corporation signage flashing on the screen.

Lu Chen who also saw it paused and stood up from his seat.

The reporter was elaborating about the data breach that the Lu Corporation suffered from weeks ago and she watched that reporter exaggerate the information too much as if it was a massive data breach.

Clearly, someone was deliberately trying to smear their name at this point.

"Connect me with the PR team and the Legal team in fifteen minutes. Do we have a submitted report on this already?"

"Not yet. The news was just publicized ten minutes ago so we haven't had the chance to investigate who leaked this to the press."

"Okay. Then investigate who gave it away and as much as possible, I want it done within half the day."

"Copy that. I'll inform the other teams now."

Then her assistant hung up the call. Xiu Mei didn't stop there and dialed Lu Shao next.

"I saw the news." Was what Lu Shao replied as soon as he picked up the call.

"Let's split up the task. I'll work with the Legal team and PR team on how we'll respond to this but we need to suppress the news as much as possible right now. I'm a bit tied at the moment but I'll see what I can do in a short time."

"Okay. Does the president already know this?"

Xiu Mei glanced at Lu Chen whose face darkened as he watched the news.

"Yeah, and he's not very happy seeing it at the moment. Okay, um, since we've agreed on splitting up the task. I'll pass the baton to you first and I'll get back to you once I've spoken with the other team. My assistant is going to find out who leaked this to the media so you might need to help her with that as well."

"I understand. Then I'll revert back to you in a few hours."

"Okay. Thank you."

As soon as their call finished, she turned to Lu Chen and approached him. Touching his arm, she calmed him down.

"I'll report to you later once we've fixed this temporarily today. We've already started a formal investigation who did this." She said.

"I might know who did this." Every word that came out of his mouth was filled with anger.

"Who?"

"I'll explain it to you later."

Then Lu Chen stepped back to grab his phone and then he started calling someone.

"Watch the news. Then launch an investigation whether it was done by that person who did the hacking a few weeks." He instructed.

Xiu Mei who was listening to his words realized who he was talking to.
