Chapter 12 - Different

Being scrutinized by the emperor CEO, Xiu Mei almost unconsciously stepped back in nervousness.

"Uh.... it went fine." She wanted to say that her blind date was a sc.u.m but she didn't want her boss to know that she had wasted that half day off just to know that.

"Hmm." Lu Chen nonchalantly replied as he kept staring at her. He was taking a long heavy stare at her face before following up another question. "Dating?"

Xiu Mei almost shuddered at the question."No!" She almost shouted in defense.

Lu Chen realized this and the corners of his mouth curled upwards.

"It must've been a terrible guy." He laughed in mockery to the supposed to be blind date partner of hers.

Finally caught by the emperor CEO, Xiu Mei felt speechless. "Uh...."

Should she try making excuses?

Lu Chen, on the other hand was not exactly himself. He was always direct with his questions instead of going around it. He doesn't like wasting his time in asking useless questions in which he could've easily gained his desired answer in just a few words.

But now, he was paving his way to his secretary with a bunch of nonsense questions. Lu Chen felt very awkward asking about Xiu Mei's relationship as he was always ignorant about it before.

But now, he can't just simply ignore it anymore.

Lu Qiang, his son was so attached to this secretary of his that he would only talk about Xiu Mei when talking about him. He would always find that little kid on his phone, either texting or calling with his secretary.

That little kid had even volunteered to follow him to the company just to meet her though, he would always reject his requests.

That's why he got more concerned about his secretary's welfare. Since Xiu Mei is now the one Lu Qiang's trusts the most, Lu Chen should be more cautious of who tries to get on Xiu Mei's graces.

He trusts Xiu Mei's capability in choosing which people to befriend and to be more cautious but if people learns of his son's existence and his extreme closeness with his secretary, the two of them would be an easier target instead of directly attacking him.

Since Lu Qiang is quite special, a lot of people took an interest with him since birth. Hence, he was always on guard with everything about him. He wasn't just a Lu...he was.... different.

Lu Chen couldn't let his guard down or else, everything will be for naught.

That's why now that Lu Qiang is growing so rapidly, he's become more hands on of his security. Especially the last time that the little kid was able to escape under his radar without anyone noticing.

"So y--"

Before Lu Chen could start speaking another word, his telephone blasted off.

He was a bit frustrated that he couldn't achieve the agenda that he wanted for this conversation, but work is work. This is also important.

Sending a look to Xiu Mei to let her stay there, he pressed the accept button and Lu Shao's voice was heard from the speakers.

"Mr.Lu, the representative from the Milano International have arrived. They are now waiting for you in conference room A."

Finally remembering that he still have some important work to do, he replied a single word of okay before standing up from his seat.

"Let's go." He said to Xiu Mei as he walked past her. Xiu Mei nodded and followed behind him as the both of them walked out of his office.

They saw Lu Shao standing by the elevator waiting for the two of them before pressing the down button.

The elevator doors opened and the three of them got inside, and went directly to the conference room.

While making their way to the conference room, Xiu Mei's unfortunate streak of events continued from where it left off last weekend.

"Mei'er, it's really you! We must have been really fated with each other to be able to meet like this right here!"

The guy ignored all the people around the surroundings and just went straight to her direction stopping in front of her.

He flashed his dollar smile again, trying to make it as charming as possible--which in Xiu Mei's opinion was very creepy.

Xiu Mei took two steps backward to maintain the distance with him.

"Mr.Han, it has been awhile." She tried her best to stop her eyes from twitching and her expression turning too stiff.

Ah yes, it was Han Min.

That flirty blind date of hers.

Speak of the devil and he shall come.
