Pei Zhen wasn’t too interested in the movie initially, but it turned out that it had excellent direction and an intricate plot that drew in the audience.

Hence after taking his seat and an initially-disinterested glance at the screen, Pei Zhen was hooked.

Fu Sichen wasn’t exactly interested in the details of the movie. Once in a while, a disheveled woman appeared on the screen, and Fu Sichen didn’t blink an eye.

“Who is this woman?”

Fu Sichen asked a completely random question as he reached out for Pei Zhen’s hand, “Why is she appearing again?”

“She’s the female lead,” replied Pei Zhen.

Their hands were about to meet, but Fu Sichen froze and said in a low, embarrassed tone, “Oh, I’m just testing you.”

Pei Zhen rolled his eyes. Did Fu Sichen really think he had such low IQ?

It was pitch black in the theatre, and the only light came from the movie screen.

Although the movie itself wasn’t exceptionally scary, the repetitive shrieks in the theatre amplified the sense of fear.

When the girl sitting in front let out a sharp scream, Pei Zhen played along and gave the occasional blood-curdling screech.

“Crap! Do her in; this is too scary!”

Fu Sichen wasn’t quite sure how to react.

But quickly, he followed suit. “That’s right; that’s right—go on, leading lady, do her in!”

“… I was rather hoping that the leading lady would die,” Pei Zhen said.

Fu Sichen fell silent for a moment.

Not knowing what to say next, he frustratingly downed a mouthful of Cola. Reaching out for the bottle, he realized it was empty.

The end goal of the night was to end up in bed, but before the battle had even warmed up, it had fallen flat at the movie stage!

It didn’t matter how most people would feel after watching a two-hour horror movie, but Pei Zhen was most satisfied.

The closing soundtrack marked the end of the movie, and the lights in the theatre were about to turn on. Pei Zhen didn’t want to linger, so he quickly pulled Fu Sichen behind him as they made their getaway.

“Oh, I didn’t expect the movie to be so interesting.”

Fu Sichen bit into a Spicy Strip resentfully and forced a smile. “Uh huh.”

“The twist at the end was too interesting.” Pei Zhen was still wound up in the movie plot and completely neglected his boyfriend’s annoyance and gloom. “I didn’t think that she’d survive in the end.”

“Huh, she’s the leading lady, of course she wouldn’t die. Isn’t that a given?” said Fu Sichen, who hadn’t paid attention throughout the whole movie.

“I’m not talking about the leading lady. I’m talking about her good friend—she didn’t die,” Pei Zhen replied.

Fu Sichen had lost the plot.

For goodness’ sake, what sort of freaking movie was that? Why did the leading lady seem to be playing him out?!

“Cough cough.” The atmosphere had become a little embarrassing, and Pei Zhen tried to change the topic and thought perhaps he could rave about the Spicy Strips. However, when he looked down, he realized that the packet was empty. Suddenly, he understood.

He realized why his boyfriend looked so annoyed; he must have been hungry!

He had a rim of oil around his mouth, and it was an angry red. He must have overdosed on the Spicy Strips.

“You should have said so if you were hungry.” Pei Zhen coughed and mocked Fu Sichen in a friendly manner. “Precious, what would you like to eat?”

Best Actor Fu’s face was dark as a kettle. “You.”

Pei Zhen stopped for a bit, and a strange expression came over his face. “You really want to eat…”

Fu Sichen took a step towards him, and said in a firm and assertive tone, “That’s right, I’d like to eat you!”

Silence.

Eventually, Pei Zhen could not resist taking Fu Sichen to a restaurant, aptly named “Ni” (You).

“Here. All sorts of Ni, take your pick.”

He stumped Fu Sichen beyond words.
