Chapter 239: Played by a woman

He had planned everything,

After successfully making that woman a joke on media, he was going to persuade Mr. Ji to release a statement that he never agreed to attend the event. If that happened, it would confirm that she used him to gain publicity.

That would ruin her, along with her company's reputation once and for all.

He racked his brain, again and again, and finally came to a conclusion. "Deliberately talking with Mr. Ji in front of my eyes...in my own engagement party..." His thoughts assembled. "...asking him to host her event when fully aware of his relationship with 'Gu' family..." Gu Ting's face gradually turned darker. "She knew it! F**king bitch, she played me! She was never planning to use Mr. Ji." When the reality finally dawned upon Gu Ting, he felt like pulling out someone's entrails.

He was so enraged that if the person sitting close to him was not Jing Tian, he would have very much chocked her. 

"B-Brother Gu, calm down..." Jing Tian was scared. It was the first time she regretted ever instigating Gu Ting against her sister. Her initial motive was to have Gu Ting make a few moves against her elder sister. So that the anger in her heart could be relieved.

But who knew that Gu Ting would take it so personally?

If Jing Tian knew that things would come to this, and her elder sister would end up straining their relationship, she would never have taken such a step.

At the end of the beautiful environment and motivational speeches from the superiors, a sumptuous dinner was served. Jing Lihua had to excuse herself early on to go upstairs and have a discussion with Mei Xiu. Once she entered the office, she found Mei Xiu reading through a pile of documents.

"You did not need to work so much. If today had been possible then it had a lot of contributions from your side."

"I'm flattered. But today is just the start." Mei Xiu was older than Jing Lihua and had accompanied Tang Liuwei through his thick and thin. There was a gleam of maturity in her eyes. She knew that th

ey might have been able to stand on their feet but the real race starts just now. 

"Everything is perfect. We have seventy percent of the shops already inhabited." She flipped through the paged and nodded satisfactorily. 

"Do you have the VIP floors reserved?"

"Yes President, as you instructed!" replied Mei Xiu energetically. 

She cast a mystified glance towards Jing Lihua. 

She had no idea how President managed to have Mr. Shen attend at the last moment, but it surely managed to save their assess. Since Mei Xiu had been serving in Tang Enterprise all her life, she had become emotionally attached to it. If Tang Enterprise had suffered a blow, she would have been very distraught. Now, when everything went smoothly, she was naturally very happy. 

Despite that, as days passed by and this young President continued to overcome all obstacles, Mei Xiu could not help a feeling emerging her heart. A feeling that told her President was much more than what met the eye.

She had some secrets of her own.

But as long as she showed growth in a positive direction, Mei Xiu could rest with peace. 

"But I don't understand. Who are you saving those privilaged floors for?" Out of curiosity, she asked.

"About that, " Thankfully Mei Xiu reminded Jing Lihua, or she might have forgotten. "Secure me a place in the fashion brand representatives from Hong Kong this Friday."

"Is there any such meeting going to happen?" Even Mei Xiu was not aware of this. She quickly checked through the documents and came up with a specific document. Her eyes widened in surprise. "How did you know? Their invitations were not sent just a few hours ago."

Jing Lihua coughed. She realized she might have miscalculated a little on her part. Now how was she supposed to explain how she knew beforehand?

Of course, she knew about this because, in her last life, she had attended this particular meeting to have the brands host their products in her stores. Well...she had ended up making a fool of herself due to her inexperience. The incident left a deep impression in her mind.

"Actually I...Mr. Liu, I met him at the fashion show back in Hong Kong. We had a very friendly exchange and he ended up revealing to me that not in the far future, a famous conglomerate intended to extend its products in Bejing." Jing Lihua smoothly concocted a lie. "Why would you think I was suddenly interested in investing in a Mall?" She added more credibility to her words.

ld you in high regard then!" Mei Xiu was impressed.

Jing Lihua coughed again. "...Right."

Then her eyes gained the typical glimmer of maturity that had been ingrained in her soul since the day of her wedding. "You told me there was another matter that you wanted to discuss. What is it?" From the tone of Mei Xiu earlier on, Jing Lihua had picked up that the matter was rather serious. 

Gradually, Mei Xiu's smile disappeared. "Yes, about that, I think we might be in a bit of situation. Fu Jianguo had contacted me some time ago and reported me a strange occurrence. I did not think of it much at first. But later on, Chen Yuefeng also confirmed his suspicions."
