Chapter 102 - Overconfidence

Jing Lihua still remembered the day Wu Xiuqin had brought her to their mansion. They way Wu Ying had looked at her as if Wu Xiuqin had brought home a beggar. That was how Wu Ying's contemptuous gaze had made her feel back then when she had nothing. Back when she still naively believed that Wu Xiuqin was an angel in human skin.

"Do not feel too good about it. Do you wonder why my sister helps the kinds of you?" The night she had barged into the room Jing Lihua was given to stay. Wu Ying couldn't just tolerate a parasite in her home. If her sister really wanted to show off her charity work, she could have bought that woman a separate place. "It was purely for charity's sake. Do you think she helped you because she pitied you? If you think so then you are severely wrong."

"You do not know Wu Xiuqin well. She is a kind woman."

Wu Ying scoffed. "She is my sister. I have spent my life with her and you tell me I don't know her well enough? Since childhood, she would take in petty things like injured animals. She would take care of them and protect them. What she likes is people or things being dependent on her and seeing her as their goddess. She likes to be the virtuous one. It makes her feel better for her. Because she knows exactly how horrible of a person she is. Everything about her is fake. Even though I appear as I'm, I don't pretend to be someone else just to please the masses."

"You don't have the right to say that." Though naive as Jing Lihua was back then when she was 20, she could detect some degree of animosity between the siblings. Be it looks or talents, Wu Xiuqin was far superior to Wu Ying. "You are just jealous of her." Wu Ying reminded Jing Liha of Jing Tian for some reason. Though she saw through Wu Ying deception, her naiveness let her unable to see past Wu Xiuqin's deception. "Wu Xiuqin is nothing like you. She is far better than you."

Wu Ying was agitated. "Standing in my house and saying these things to be, you sure are one haughty clod." She had spared no effort to throw all sorts of insults at her and even shoved her away angrily. At that time Wu Xiuqin had appeared in the room acting as the perfect angel and saving Jing Lihua.

Wu Ying scoffed and turned away announcing that she would not endure Jing Lihua's presence in the manor. That was when Wu Xiuqin had brought her to Li Zhiqiang. Thinking about it now Jing Lihua wondered whether it was to spread her image as the caring, warm charitable person to Li Zhiqiang.

Whatever the reason, she had made the decision that she would regret for the rest of her life.

During the times following that whenever Jing Lihua had an encounter with Wu Ying, it wouldn't be as pleasant as she wanted to be with the sister of someone she 'admired'. Jing Lihua, naturally, wanting to build a positive relationship for the sake of Wu Xiuqin was lenient. But Wu Ying would always treat her with coldness and disgust.

Her insults followed some of her favorite words 'bumpkin', 'leech' and 'clod'. She would ignore Jing Lihua greetings as if she wasn't there at all. And whenever in the presence of Li Zhiqiang she was forced to be a little polite, she would respond to Jing Lihua with curt cold replies.

Watching her kowtowing in front of her Jing Lihua scoffed and twirled the content of the vine glass. Li Zhiqiang's strong arm rested over Jing Lihua's shoulders. His gaze uninterested in the woman's vigorous kowtowing and instead was fixated on his Jing Jing precious face.

Wu Ying almost gritted her teeth in anger before she resigned. "I apologize from you Jing Lihua. Please forgive me for the rude words I said to you." She had no other choice. Either Jing Liha let her off or she would suffer by that tyrant's hands. But it was difficult than swallowing lave for her to say those words to someone, a numpty woman

"Did you say something? I'm sorry I couldn't hear you." Jing Lihua sounded genuinely confused.

Anger roiled p inside Wu Ying chest ready to burst any moment. "Don't try your luck Jing Lihua. Yo clearly heard what I said." Wu Ying wanted to throw some insults at Jing Liha but President Li's presence stopped her from ding anything of this sort.

Jing Lihua laughed harshly. "Dear Wu Ying, you seem to be under the impression that once you asked me I would forgive you." Wu Ying wanted to retort that she didn't need forgiveness from the likes of her but catching sight of President Li's stiff expressions her words were caught in her throat. That was right. President Li was behind the woman. Whatever she wanted he would provide. Wu Ying defiance was making him impatient and she could see it.

"But trust me that's not the case. Did you really think that I was the Jing Lihua of the past or what?" Jing Lihua's eyes were cold. "My punishment would only be worse than Li Zhiqiang."

Wu Ying felt cold. Looking into Jing Lihua's eyes, she once again felt that this woman was not the same she used to harass six years ago. That woman was just a spineless wimp. But this was something different. She had such an unyielding personality. "You wouldn't be fool enough to be brutal in front of President Li." She exclaimed with certainty. Which woman wanted to appear violent in front of the man she admired?

All women possessed those sorts of negative emotions for revenge but they would never let their better half get even the slightest glimpse of it. Not to mention someone like Jing Lihua, who was in the preliminary stages of the relationship. In order to create a better relationship, she needed to create a perfect docile and amicable image in front of Li Zhiqiang.

Thinking about that Wu Ying was reinvigorated with confidence and dared to look in Jing Lihua's eyes straight.

But what awaited her was totally out of her expectations.
