Chapter 36 A new issue

Gu Yan went to Xiao Han’s house specially in an afternoon to check the quality of decoration.

These workers really did a good job that the living room was decorated nicely and quickly and some unfinished places were reinforced. “It’s pretty good!” Gu Yan nodded.

Gu Yan went to the bathroom which was unfinished by last workers. She looked around and thought about how could it be more convenient for the senior.

Fortunately, the house was decorated for the senior but not for the young who had more requirements. However, Gu Yan was very confident in decorating all kind of houses.

Gu Yan was coward and timid to others but was confident and forceful when she did something related to her major. That was why she could undertake this project by herself even if she had noting at that time.

Gu Yan’s parents died early and she put Xiao Han’s parents in her shoes. “If my parents live in this house, what kind of house would they want?” She asked herself.

Thinking of her parents reminded her of her grandmother.

“What about my grandma?” She visited her grandmother in spare time since a lot of things happened recently and her grandmother would mention something that she didn’t want to talk about.

“Well, I have to visit her.”

Gu Yan looked at the phone. “Okay, I will go to the hospital tomorrow.”

She tried to cover up her awkward situation and was helped by Manla with some money.

“The fruit might run out. Don’t forget to buy fruit for grandma.” Gu Yan wrote it down on the note in case she forgot it.

After seeing the bathroom, Gu Yan looked at the clock and found that the workers would come one hour later. She was about to discuss with them about decoration of the bathroom.

The workers went to work on time. “They are really professional!” Gu Yan praised.

Gu Yan knew about these workers during her internship. She was quiet and always be asked questions by them, so they got familiar with each other. Although they got payment, they did Gu Yan a favor without any hesitation.

After leaving Xiao Han’s house, Gu Yan got a call from the hospital, telling her that her grandmother was in a bad situation.

Gu Yan went to the hospital immediately and looked after her grandmother who looked pale. Then she came to find the attending physician.

“Doctor, how is my grandmother?” Gu Yan was very anxious and wanted to know what was going on.

“We reviewed the patient in the past few days and found that the last operation was useless. Now the diseased cells have transferred to other places and we may need another operation.” Modern diseases were ever-changing and doctors could only do their best.

“Could she take another operation at her age?” Her grandmother was too weak to take another operation in such a short time.

“Well, you should know that we may extend her lifetime through operation, but I am afraid if we do nothing, she mightn’t live out this year.” The doctor tried his best to comfort Gu Yan.

“What…” Gu Yan’s mind went blank at the moment and she felt breathless.

“You are the only relative of your grandmother and you can think it over.” The doctors would do their best but everyone has their own destiny.

After going out of the doctor’s office, Gu Yan walked in the corridor out of mind.

Gu Yan went to her grandmother and felt grieved when seeing her grandmother slept quietly.

She was sorrowful for her grandmother was still suffering from the pain in such an old age but she had no money for her operation.

Manla called her at that time.

“Where are you?” Manla just got off work and wanted to ask about Gu Yan.

“At hospital.” Gu Yan said weakly.

“What? What happened?” Manla was anxious, “Hospital? Did Gu Yan hurt?”

“It’s my grandma.” How poor my grandmother was! When would she recover?

“What happened to her? Didn’t she have the surgery lately?” Mala felt confused.

“Yes, but the doctor said that the operation failed and we need to do another operation.” Gu Yan couldn’t help shedding tears.

“God, how can she take the surgery for the second time at this age?” Manla exclaimed.

“That’s what I am worried about and I have no money. What can I do, Manla?” Gu Yan finally cried out.

“Don’t worry, baby.” Manla felt very worried about Gu Yan.

“Don’t worry, I will lend you some money.” Manla said. “At this time, nobody would help Gu Yan except me. Gosh, why god did this to her?”

“You? But…” Gu Yan knew that Manla saved money to buy a house.

“Don’t be silly! You are my best friend and I can’t leave you alone. Besides, you should repay me some day. Don’t worry!” Manla thought she could earn money back but Gu Yan had only one grandmother.

“Manla, thank you!” Gu Yan knew that Manla wanted to make her comfortable. She was touched by Manla since Manla never abandoned her when she had nothing.

Mo Yichen got the situation about Gu Yan’s grandmother soon. He frowned, “Can Gu Yan endure her grandmother’s condition and the divorce at the same time?”

He paid most of the fees at last operation and only let her knew a small portion of it. But now she even couldn’t afford a small portion of the fees at this time since she was in a bad situation.

These days, Gu Yan followed up the decoration process of Xiao Han’s house and took care of her grandmother at the same time.

Her grandmother said to her gently, “It is useless to spend money on my illness.”

Gu Yan shook her head, “Grandma, don’t worry about it and just take care of yourself.”

“I know my physical condition.” Her grandma knew that Gu Yan wanted to comfort her, but she knew her own condition.
