Chapter 323.1: I’ve Never Loved You

It was not because he was too far to reach.

But her hand that reached towards the man’s face found nothing but air, passing straight through his body.

Her body stiffened, standing rigidly in place and did not move for a good while, looking as if she could not believe what was happening before her eyes.

“Lian Shi, have you finally come back…..”

Ming Yue gazed smittenly at the man, her voice sounding a little delirious as she opened her mouth to say.

“But why am I unable to touch and hold you?” Speaking up to that point, her brows creased faintly before she let out a soft laugh, seemingly mocking herself. “Just as I expected. It’s just another one of my own dreamed up hallucinations isn’t it?”

“You died a whole eternity ago….. But….. How can you die just like that? Without you, I have nothing at all…..”

“You were so very cruel, leaving nothing else behind but just a few words saying that you love me.”

Seeing the young woman muttering to herself like she was possessed, Lian Shi’s eyes flashed with a glint of pain. But after awhile, he went on to say in a soft voice: “It was already a mistake that you and I met right from the start.”

“If it was a mistake, why did you tell me that you loved me…..” The expression on Ming Yue’s face turned dark, her voice filling up with grief.

The expression on the white clothed Lian Shi’s face congealed slightly as he lowered his eyes. “That was just to….. fulfil a dream of yours.”

“Fulfil my dream?” Ming Yue was highly taken aback. She then let out a low laugh. “So….. you did that out of pity for me?”

Because he saw how she was always doggedly chasing behind him in tireless pursuit so he thought to toss her a sliver of pity right at the end?

She will not believe that.

If that was truly the case, then why did he save her with absolutely no regard for what it would cost him? There was no need for him to put himself at risk at all.

Why is he just not willing to admit….. that those words that had come out right from his very own mouth.

Has he reappeared now just to tell him that her persistent wait over the past million years was all a complete joke afterall?

That cannot be true….. She could still remember seeing the longing and regret in his eyes just before he disappeared, and this had come from a man who was averse to lying…..

He clearly loved her as well.

Ming Yue shut her eyes tightly and then opened them again to stare at the man’s face as she said, pausing between each and every word. “You are lying.”

The white clothed Lian Shi’s face remained unchanged as the corners of his lips lifted slightly. “You know very well how much I loathe the gods race….. Don’t you? I will not, and never will I possibly come to love you…..”

“Lian Shi!”

Seemingly unable to accept those words coming out from his mouth, Ming Yu suddenly cried out to interrupt the man, a sliver of pain coming to taint the cold silver irises.
