After returning to the Chi residence, Chi Jiao asked Chi Mingwei in order not to arouse his suspicion, “Dad, where are Zhu Limin and Chi Yan?”

Chi Mingwei was already used to Chi Jiao calling Zhu Limin by her full name. At the mention of her, he couldn’t help but look disgusted. “I don’t know where she went to fool around. I’ve already gotten my lawyer to prepare the divorce papers.”

Quan Jue glanced at Chi Mingwei without saying anything.

Chi Jiao was caught off-guard by his raised eyebrow. Her heart was beating wildly like a deer.

Chi Mingwei looked at them unblinkingly. When he saw them whispering into each others’ ears as if there was no one else around, he was so angry that his nose almost turned crooked.

However, he couldn’t bear to scold Jiaojiao and couldn’t say anything nasty to Quan Jue in front of her, so he could only endure it.

“Cough, cough…” Chi Mingwei coughed heavily twice.

Chi Jiao’s attention was immediately attracted to him. She frowned and looked at him. “Daddy, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”

“I’m not feeling unwell. Jiaojiao, tell Daddy what happened today. Why were you and Quan Jue attacked out of nowhere?” Chi Mingwei asked.

“We don’t know, either,” Chi Jiao said with a confused expression. She couldn’t tell her father about the existence of Espers yet, so she could only pretend to be confused.

Chi Mingwei looked at Quan Jue.

Quan Jue did not even look at him and chose to remain silent.

“I’ll hire a bodyguard for you,” said Chi Mingwei after some thought.

Since the murderer hadn’t been caught yet, who could guarantee that the murderer wouldn’t do anything else to Jiaojiao?

Chi Jiao quickly shook her head. “Daddy, I don’t need a bodyguard.”
