The older sister felt frightened and tried to get her sister to move, but the younger sister would not budge. She stood there rigidly, her eyes fixed on Zhang Xiao Qiang. There was no blankness in her eyes, just calm, and they were extremely clear. There were no other movements.

Zhang Xiao Qiang looked back at her, the little girl’s head only reached up to his chest. He wanted to open his mouth, but felt at a loss what to say. The girl nodded, then followed her sister to the Hummer. As she retracted her gaze, her clear eyes dimmed back to their blank state. This 12-year-old was already so mature, and her last nod was her form of goodbye, and an acceptance of her fate to come.

Seeing the pair of sisters get into the Hummer, the younger sister stared out the window, her eyes blank. Zhang Xiao Qiang felt his heart ache, he knew this girl was clear all along, her current numb state was just a way of locking her feelings and spirit. He had killed the old man, and obtained a key to her heart, but was now pushing her to another pit. In the future, there might not be another way of getting her to open up.

Yuan Yi started the Hummer and was about to drive off.
