Chapter 1069: Greeting Letter

Elder Wang Ling was stunned for a moment as he looked at the letter. He did not know what the best course of action was.

Deep down, he felt great dissatisfaction towards Li Luo. As such, he had swiftly turned down his request to meet the two vice principals with any reason he could think of. However, he did not expect Li Luo to provide an official missive. This was indeed the formal way of doing things.

It was an official way of sending greetings among the various powers. Unless the two sides were mortal enemies, one would usually accept the invitation in a friendly manner.

In fact, it would be a great insult and humiliation if one were to turn it down.

The Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li was a Heavenly Emperor power after all; they were one of the top forces in the Heavenly Origin Divine Continent. If he damaged the amicable relationship between the two sides over something petty, Wang Ling would not be able to bear the consequences.

It was much more serious than directly beating Li Luo up right now.

As such, Wang Ling did not dare to reject.

He rubbed his nose, held out his hands, and accepted the greeting letter politely. Deep in his heart, he knew that the missive might not really be from the Dragon's Fang Lineage. It might simply be a small trick from Li Luo.

But what could he do? He couldn't possibly go to the Dragon's Fang Lineage directly and ask if it was real, right? Besides, if Li Luo himself was the one presenting it, it should be legitimate... All Wang Ling could say was that Li Luo was truly the beloved child of the Dragon's Fang Lineage.

"Pass me the greeting letter, and I'll assist you in passing it on to the two vice principals. Please wait for an update," Wang Ling said with a muffled and slightly defeated tone.

"I'll also arrange for our dear friend Li Luo to rest in the VIP area later."

Hearing this, Li Luo turned towards Mentor Chi Chan and asked, "Mentor, do you want to have a change in scenery too?"

He could tell at a glance that the small building Chi Chan was staying in was bare and basic. It was undoubtedly worse than the building next to it.

Mentor Chi Chan shook her head and replied, "No need. I'm fine here."

Living conditions were unimportant, and she could not be bothered with it.

Li Luo nodded. "In that case, I'll stay here too. There should still be multiple rooms, right?"

"Well..." Wang Ling did not know what to do about this. Li Luo had come with a greeting letter and was now an official diplomat! If word got out that he was staying in a shabby, little building, the reputation of the Heavenly Origin Ancient College would be hurt.

In the end, Wang Ling could only nod. With nothing more to say, he turned around and brought Chen Yun, who was still feeling incredibly aggrieved, away with him.

After the two of them left, Li Luo looked towards Zong Sha and Jiang Wanyu with a smile. "Can you two help me out with something?"

"Sure," Zong Sha answered with a hearty smile.

"I want information regarding the other sage colleges' teams," Li Luo said.

Jiang Wanyu was surprised. "You're really planning to represent the Astral Sage College alone?"

Zong Sha frowned. "The evaluation will be in a team battle format. The participants from the other sage colleges will come from all the halls. Although the One and Two Star Halls will mainly be making up numbers, the Three and Four Star Hall students should not be underestimated."

Zong Sha knew about Li Luo's tricks and methods from the Spiritual Resonance Cave. However, this competition was different from the brutal killing back in the Spiritual Resonance Cave. Li Luo was ultimately at a disadvantage participating alone.

"I am afraid you can't use some of the external aids that have previously assisted you," Jiang Wanyu warned. The fact that Li Luo could borrow the power of a great spirit beast to boost his strength tremendously was no longer a secret.

Li Luo nodded and smiled. Of course, he knew about this. However...

Ordinary students from the Three and Four Star Halls were not much of a threat to him at this point.

Zong Sha and Jiang Wanyu did not have more to say. They knew Li Luo's strength very well. Even though he was fighting alone, he should be able to get a pretty good result as long as he was willing to exhaust all his means.

As such, the two of them departed temporarily as well.

Li Luo turned around after the two of them left. He looked into the beautiful eyes of Mentor Chi Chan, who had been staring at him all along.

"Mentor, don't you think that I've gained the dignity of a mighty expert in our year apart?" Li Luo asked.

Mentor Chi Chan rolled her eyes. "I'm not so sure about the dignity of an expert, but it looks like your confidence has soared once again. It seems like you're getting a little over your head without Jiang Qing'e by your side."

As her red lips moved, there was a smile in her eyes. "Nonetheless... it's quite refreshing."

"It's called letting them have a taste of their own medicine," Li Luo replied.

The two of them looked at each other and laughed out loud.

"Mentor, aren't you going to invite me in? I am curious about the situation back in the Astral Sage College," Li Luo said with a grin. Mentor Chi Chan nodded, then she turned and extended her hand to invite him in.

"Please come in, esteemed young master from the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li."

On the other side, Elder Wang Ling and Chen Yun were leaving together.

"Is there nothing we can do about this? It was a task from the Principal. If I head back and tell him I failed to persuade her, I'll be scolded for sure."

Clearly, Chen Yun was still reluctant to give up. The Astral Sage College was in ruins now, so it'd be a waste to allocate any resources to them.

Elder Wang Ling was also feeling a little helpless about the situation. "Who would have expected a sage college from an outer divine continent to have a student with such a strong background? Moreover, he's willing to stand up for them...

"Li Luo's reputation has been soaring as of late. He is considered the new leader amongst the younger generation in the Heavenly Origin Divine Continent."

Li Luo may have the backing of the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li, but the Heavenly Origin Ancient College is not afraid of him in the least. We just need to make sure we handle things properly to prevent others from gossiping. Besides, the evaluation is a four-person team fight format. Li Luo may be strong, but that's only amongst his peers. He will be the only one representing the Astral Sage College. No matter how powerful he is, does he really think he can beat four others by himself?"

Wang Ling sneered and continued, "I heard that he utilized an external power in the Spiritual Resonance Cave that allowed him to win against people above his level. He tapped upon the strength of a sealed spirit beast. However, such a method will be banned during the academic evaluation, so there is no need to worry about it.”

Chen Yun heaved a sigh of relief. "That's comforting to hear. I felt fear when the brat confidently declared that he could take on an entire team by himself."

Wang Ling smiled lightly. "It is natural for young people to feel a sense of pride and fall to their own hubris. Besides, it's obvious he just wants to show off when there's such a beautiful mentor watching him. Afterwards, he'll start to regret his words and actions. I will report this matter to Vice Principal Wu Yu. He is from the same clan as your Principal, so I believe he will step in and provide some help. If we make some adjustments to the rules, the Astral Sage College may just decide to give up on the competition by themselves. He took a glance at Chen Yun and whispered, "Vice Principal Wu Yu also has some old grudges to settle with Pang Qianyuan, the Principal of the Astral Sage College."

Chen Yun finally understood. So it seemed there was some sort of bitter history between the two. It was no wonder Vice Principal Wu Yu treated the Astral Sage college as such. He didn't even want to meet Chi Chan.

He turned his head and looked at the small building with a roof protruding out of the trees.

With a cold snort, he thought, "So what if he's from the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li? We of the Lake Sage College have already decided that we will consume that corpse."
