In the past, she would be worried that Jiang Yanshen would misunderstand her, so she would always hurriedly explain, regardless of whether he believed her or not.

Most importantly, her son was actually still so protective of this beggar girl.

Before Li Ruzhu could finish speaking, a cold gaze shot over like a blade. Her words stopped abruptly and she lowered her eyes timidly.

Jiang Yanshen scanned them from above and finally locked his gaze on Lin Qingqian. Without saying a word, he turned around and went upstairs.

A trace of disappointment surged in Lin Qingqian’s heart. It seemed that it was impossible to use Madam Jiang and Li Ruzhu to persuade Jiang Yanshen to agree to the divorce.

Jiang Yanshen sat on the sofa, casually wiping his damp hair with a towel. He glanced at the woman who walked in slowly from the corner of his eye and lowered his long eyelashes as if he hadn’t seen her.

Lin Qingqian went to the bathroom to get a hairdryer and walked to the sofa to blow dry his hair. Her porcelain-white fingers gently shuttled through his hair, and her fingertips accidentally touched his scalp. She was like a professional masseuse, making Jiang Yanshen’s suppressed anger dissipate bit by bit.

When his hair was dry, Lin Qingqian put down the hairdryer and wanted to talk to him about the divorce. When she sat down, she realized that he had fallen asleep on the sofa. His cold brows were tightly furrowed even after he fell asleep.

Once, she thought that she was someone who could smooth out the frown between his brows, but the past seven years had told her that she could not warm Jiang Yanshen up.

Jiang Yanshen liked the cold, and the air conditioner in the room was set to a rather low temperature. Lin Qingqian was afraid that he would fall sick, so she went to get a blanket to cover him. Just as she was about to go out, her wrist was grabbed.

She lowered her head to meet the man’s mixed gaze. The two of them looked at each other in silence, letting the cold air corrode the warmth between their skin.

In the end, Lin Qingqian reached out and pried open his fingers. Her voice was calm as she said, “Jiang Yanshen, you don’t love me, and your mother doesn’t like me. It’s good for everyone if we get a divorce.”

Jiang Yanshen narrowed his dark eyes. “What happened to you recently?”

Unless something had happened, why would she suddenly become a different person? Her personality had changed drastically, and she even wanted a divorce.

“Nothing,” Lin Qingqian replied.

Her disappointment and disillusionment with Jiang Yanshen did not happen overnight, and his coldness and neglect over the years had accumulated those disappointments and heartaches to the point of numbness, until her heart died.

Jiang Yanshen did not believe her words. She was fine before. It was impossible for her to suddenly become a different person.

He picked up his phone and called Lu Yuan. “Get Doctor Shen to come over.”

Lin Qingqian did not understand why he suddenly called for a doctor. She thought that he was feeling unwell and stood up. “You should rest, I…”

Jiang Yanshen suddenly stood up, grabbed her wrist, and pressed her onto the sofa. His voice was cold as he said, “Shen Zhiwei is the best psychiatrist in Lan City. She will definitely cure you.”
