Chapter 74 Failed in Cooking for the First Time

Ling Tianyi was so stubborn that Xia Xiaoluo had to leave the kitchen. But Ling Tianyi had never cooked by himself and Xia Xiaoluo was worried about him very much, so she kept eavesdropping outside.

“Ding-dong…” Xia Xiaoluo could know what Ling Tianyi was doing according to the noise made by the pots and pans.

“Zi-la!”

“Ah! Whoops!”

Hearing such voices, Xia Xiaoluo knew that Ling Tianyi, her stupid husband, was splattered by the hot oil. So she was anxious.

Xia Xiaoluo couldn’t stop worrying about her husband, so she opened the door quietly and put her head in to make sure if she could help.

“Get out!” Ling Tianyi pushed her head out with his greasy hands before Xia Xiaoluo could see something. And then, Ling Tianyi closed the door to keep his cooking skill secretly.

Xia Xiaoluo didn’t know what to do, so she walked around idly outside the kitchen. She couldn’t help Ling Tianyi, so she was worried about him very much.

Finally, Ling Tianyi opened the door of the kitchen.

“Cough, cough!” Xia Xiaoluo couldn’t help coughing due to the smoke.

Wearing a pink apron patterned with Hello Kitty, Ling Tianyi walked out of the kitchen with two dishes or something in his hands. He put the dishes on the table quickly and patted on Xia Xiaoluo’s back to help her, “Why do you stay outside the kitchen? What a lot of smoke here! Are you better now?”

“Daring, what happened? Did you turn on the range hood?” Seeing Ling Tianyi’s dirty face, Xia Xiaoluo asked curiously.

“Range hood? Do I have to turn it on? I thought that it was automatic!” Ling Tianyi was confused. Because everything in his house was automatic, Ling Tianyi thought that the range hood would work on its own as long as there was smoke.

“What? Although the range hood is automatic, it can only work after you press the button and switch it on.” After that, Xia Xiaoluo rushed to the kitchen and turned on the range hood with her hands covering her mouth and nose. The smoke in the kitchen must be dealt with as soon as possible, or the whole department would be polluted.

Xia Xiaoluo started coughing seriously again after going out of the kitchen. Ling Tianyi finally realized that his sweetheart went to turn on the range hood. He said with concern, “Darling, you are a patient now, so let me do everything for you.”

“Cough… I am afraid that you can’t find the switch!” Xia Xiaoluo said it while she was coughing.

“Oh, I’m not so stupid, OK?” Ling Tianyi let Xia Xiaoluo sit down at the table, took the other two dishes and a bowl of soup out of the kitchen.

“Well! There are four dishes and a bowl of soup, including vegetables and meat!” Ling Tianyi looked at his masterpieces with satisfaction and poured some juice for Xia Xiaoluo and himself.

“Is this fried chip?” Xia Xiaoluo pointed at some burnt potato chips and decided to taste it.

“Darling, this is stir-fried shredded potatoes!” Ling Tianyi picked up some to Xia Xiaoluo.

“Darling, the shredded potatoes are too thick!” Seeing the shredded potatoes which were thicker than a chopstick, Xia Xiaoluo didn’t know what to say.

Ling Tianyi looked carefully and said, “It’s too thick indeed, but just have a try! It’s the first time for me to cook it and it’s for you! You are so lucky!”

“Well, I’m lucky.” Xia Xiaoluo rolled her eyes.

Xia Xiaoluo almost cried after putting the shredded potatoes in her mouth and she managed to swallow them.

“Darling, how is it?” Ling Tianyi looked at her wife with expectation, hoping that Xia Xiaoluo can praise him.

Xia Xiaoluo took some juice then she could give Ling Tianyi a smile. She said, “Darling, it’s amazing! Do you want to have a try?”

“Okay.” Ling Tianyi was happy on hearing the praise and put some shredded potatoes in his mouth.

“Ah! Cough! Ling Tianyi spat out all the shredded potatoes he had eaten and felt very embarrassed.

Xia Xiaoluo couldn’t help laughing, “Darling, it’s your first time to cook it, so how can you spit them out? It’s a waste of food!”

“Darling, you did it deliberately!” Ling Tianyi pointed at Xia Xiaoluo with his chopsticks and didn’t know what to say.

“Darling, it was you who did it deliberately. How much salt did you use?” Xia Xiaoluo pursed her lips and grinned.

“It’s my first time to do it. I don’t have any experience. Try to taste the sweet and sour spare ribs. I cooked it according to the recipe on the mobile phone. It may be delicious.” Ling Tianyi picked up one piece of rib for Xia Xiaoluo while he was speaking.

Xia Xiaoluo was afraid of eating something strange again, so she knew how to do this time. She picked up one piece of rib for Ling Tianyi as well and said, “You are busy cooking and please try it first!”

Ling Tianyi was so clever that he knew what was in Xia Xiaoluo’s mind easily. But he didn’t mind. He ate it and said, “Woo! It’s delicious! Darling, have a try!”

Xia Xiaoluo bit a little doubtfully. The rib was not so salty, but it was hard for Xia Xiaoluo to chew. So she spat it out as well.

“It was too chewy!” Xia Xiaoluo said to Ling Tianyi.

“Um… It should be cooked for a longer time. But the taste is good because I didn’t use so much salt.” Ling Tianyi kept looking for some advantages of his dishes, ignoring his failure in cooking.

“Ho-ho.” Xia Xiaoluo smelt it reluctantly and didn’t know what to say.

Later, Xia Xiaoluo tasted the shredded chicken with soy sauce, in which Ling Tianyi had put so much soy sauce and salt. The only eatable dish was a ready-made marinated duck.

Seeing that Xia Xiaoluo kept on eating the duck mouth, Ling Tianyi felt annoyed and disappointed. He said to Xia Xiaoluo, “Darling, why do you only eat the duck? Please save my face and try what I have cooked!”

“Darling, it’s your first time to cook today. It’s so valuable and I will leave it to you. I will eat the marinated duck. It’s OK.” Xia Xiaoluo’s mouth was greasy, but for the dishes that Ling Tianyi cooked, she couldn’t eat them anymore after she had tasted them.

Knowing that the dishes were difficult to swallow, Ling Tianyi didn’t know what to say. He went to the kitchen to get some rice.

“Um? Why is it still undone?” Ling Tianyi opened the electric cooker, only to find that the rice and the water were totally separate.

Hearing Ling Tianyi’s murmurs, Xia Xiaoluo entered into the kitchen with a duck leg in her hand.

Xia Xiaoluo returned to the table with Ling Tianyi. She stirred the soup with a spoon, “The color is good, what about the taste?”

“But we have already cooked the rice and we haven’t finished our marinated duck!” Xia Xiaoluo said, because she didn’t want to waste food.

“Just leave them. We can eat them tomorrow or we can also just throw them away. Then, we can buy other delicious food. I am rich, so we can waste a little food.” Ling Tianyi took Xia Xiaoluo out while he was speaking.

“Okay, you win!” Ling Tianyi took Xia Xiaoluo into the elevator.

Ling Tianyi saw his face in the mirror and frowned. He was confident with his appearance, but he became totally embarrassed after cooking food.
